SULTANAS

Sultanas are mainly produced from the white grape Vitis Vinifera of which the Thompson Seedless cultivar is the most common. 5 kilos of sun dried fresh grapes are needed to produce just 1 kilo of sultanas. This produces a soft, juicy and very sweet amber coloured fruit. The sultana has its own distinctive sun drying treatment which varies depending on the origin, but which differentiates it from the raisin. The drying can take from a week to 10 days until the moisture content has been reduced. Sultanas are treated with vegetable oil and we are able to offer different specifications as required.
